Enabling DHCP with Hostname

  1. To set the hostname, do the following:
    • vi  /etc/sysconfig/network
  2. Edit /etc/sysconfig/network to look like the following:
    •  NETWORKING=yes
    • HOSTNAME={hostname}.hypersecuresolutions.com
  3. Save and exit.
  4. Then edit your ifcfg-eth0 config file with the following command:
    •  vi  /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
  5. Edit /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 to look like the following:
    • <pre>DEVICE=eth0
    • BOOTPROTO=dhcp
    • HWADDR=00:E0:81:63:99:81 # This line is different for every card
    • ONBOOT=yes
    • TYPE=Ethernet
    • DHCP_HOSTNAME={hostname}
    • USERCTL=no
    • PEERDNS=yes
    • IPV6INIT=no
  6. Save and exit.
  7. Next, type in the following on the command promt to set hostname:
    •  hostname {hostname}.hypersecuresolutions.com
